Caricature serves to “Unmask, at least the one done well!
The portrait, at least the "Canonical" one, serves to disguise defects, etc., to embellish! The caricature, the one done well, does diametrically the opposite, through a careful investigation, through expressive exaggeration it gives the observer the true self, the true soul of the depicted subject the various tics giving the observer an amazing reality, sometimes funny, sometimes less so, but the true caricature is of the soul, precisely removing the mask, this is why I say that the caricature is the completed journey of the portrait...
