What is caricature for me…

Inauguration of the personal exhibition "la Caricatura".
The “Caricature” exhibition by Frank Federighi, curated by Silvia Di Paolo and Rocco Normanno, was successfully inaugurated at the Museum of Contemporary and Twentieth Century Art in Monsummano Terme. The exhibition, dedicated to satire, collects original works by the Lucca-born artist Francesco Federighi aka Frank. Five rooms for 68 paintings of famous people, politicians, musicians, actors, sportsmen, artists, television VIPs, all 'retouched' by the pungent and skilled brush of the Lucca-born artist Frank Federighi, a true master of the caricature genre. No one escapes Frank's hand: from the politicians of our house to Zelensky and Putin, from Pope Francis to Queen Elizabeth and King Charles III up to Sophia Loren, Terence Hill and Sylvester Stallone, up to famous artists such as Van Gogh and Picasso and the sports figures including Massimiliano Allegri, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simone Inzaghi through to small screen celebrities such as Amadeus. Francesco Federighi aka Frank was born in Lucca on 30 September 1973 and from a very young age he worked for prestigious publishing houses and weeklies such as Max, TV Sorrisi e Canzoni, Il Tirreno and L'Espresso, which defines him as the heir of Mulatier, a well-known illustrator 80s French; he has also collaborated with the magazines Ciak, Efeso and Riflessi. For many years now, for the newspapers Libero, Il Fatto Quotidiano, TPI and Piauí (a well-known Brazilian monthly), he has been drawing caricatures of political figures, from the world of economics and of famous people in general. As part of the exhibition, created with the contribution of the Municipality of Monsummano Terme and the Tuscany Region, guided tours are planned, scheduled for Sunday 19 February, Sunday 16 and 30 April again at 4pm. Personal exhibition "Caricatures"
Saturday 28 January at 17.00 on Mac,n – Museum of Contemporary and 20th Century Art will inaugurate its new exhibition. Guest of the rooms of Villa Renatico Martini will be the scathing and refined irony, the color and the extraordinary ability in drawing, of the art of Frank Federighi with his personal “Caricature”. An incredible roundup of characters, politicians and actors, artists and musicians, show business and sports personalities... no one will escape the "pungent" brush of the Lucchese artist who will give us, with his works, an interlude of invaluable good humour. A unique exhibition in the exhibition history of the Monsummano museum that visitors will be able to admire until 7 May 2023.

Beyond the portrait - Solo exhibition
On Saturday 15 October, at 5.30 pm, the exhibition “Beyond the Portrait” of the famous Lucca caricaturist Francesco Frank Federighi will be inaugurated at the Athena Museum in via Carlo Piaggia in Capannori. More than 50 works of famous faces revisited in a satirical key will be exhibited, including those of many politicians.
Federighi began his career at a very young age by making portraits of his professors at the 'Passaglia' artistic high school. Over time, that passion has become a real job, so much so that we collaborate with prestigious publishing houses and magazines such as "Max", "Tv Smiles and songs", "L'Espresso", "Ciak", "Efeso", " Riflessi ”,“ Libero ”,“ Il Fatto Quotidiano ”.
Federighi has won numerous awards, such as Caricature Syria, Caricature India, an honorable mention in "Caricature nel XXIII Humor" and in 2019 the special "Rino Montanari" prize reserved for Italian caricaturists at the World Humor Awards. The exhibition, with free admission, will be open until October 29th.

Social denunciation has always existed, especially in painting, but I believe that my tiredness in always reproducing it in the way now seen and withdrawn in the history of art, has led me to find a "new" way of representing the contemporary, less rhetorical, sharper and more ironic, the project consists in introducing the animal, it works and marries with man, it is a huge project that develops between one caricature and another, I plan to produce a hundred of them…

Presentation of the book "Gianmario Eat like a goat"
The weapon for him - always - is pencil and brush. Francesco Frank Federighi, a caricaturist from Lucca by passion and by profession, is the one who "lit up" the front pages of important national newspapers with the scratch of satire on "canvas", underlining the main political and current events. And tomorrow, Saturday 23 April at 1730, he will present his first Book to Pinturicchio in via delle Tagliate in San Marco, Lucca. The title is already a program: "Gianmario eat like a goat", Porto Seguro edition with a preface by Marco Travaglio, the introduction by Vittorio Feltri and interventions by Dario Ballantini.
“It's not me who chose the caricature but she who chose me – says Frank -. In my life I've done more than 300 since, precisely, that spark clicked on me. I was 10 years old, I was having lunch with my family and their friends, when at a certain point I could no longer take my eyes off little Gianmario, who was chewing on his food. Suddenly I exclaimed "Gianmario you eat like a goat". At the moment the frost fell, my first grumbled at me then in the car we laughed without brakes. An instinct that, from that moment on, has “possessed” me
In my life I have made more than 300 caricatures, many commissioned”. Frank Federighi attended the Passaglia art school.
“Even there I didn't spare the profs. But I learned a lot. At school I had one of the greatest masters, Muscatello who knew how to find spectacular colors in the palette".
A passion that has always been also work: as a very young man he already worked for II Tirreno and for L'Espresso, today he has a painting of his exhibited at the Meam museum in Barcelona, the "Atto di Bullismo a Giovanni" reinterpretation of the work of Caravaggio. And tomorrow at 17.30 at Pinturicchio Frank Federighi will present his first book "the dream of a lifetime" as Frank says.
